Textiles:Milk and Coffee?

Hello everyone!
Lots of interesting things going on in the fashion world. When i say milk and coffee,  what i meant to ask was, would you like to wear it? Yup. Ahhh, the Textile world..getting smarter and smarter :)

MILK

New advancement with sour milk into yarn which can then be used as a eco friendly fabric and making non-allergenic clothes. 'A company called Qmilch makes fabric from protein found in soured ‘secondary milk’ that’s no longer suitable for human consumption, and would normally be thrown away'.

Check it out the German microbiology student that turned designer

QMilch also has health benefits, according to Domaske. The designer says the amino acids in the protein are antibacterial, anti-aging and can help regulate both blood circulation and body temperature.

COFFEE

I know coffee has been a recent addiction of mine but i never thought that perhaps one day we could actually wear this...
This fabric offers UV protection and fast color dying, think thats cool? it also removes odor which is great for you fitness fanatics that like to get your sweat on.

That was only the beginning:
A Californian brand called Virus has introduced coffee into their activewear. However this time, to keep warm by using the coffees charcoal.

'The grounds are recycled and processed into a natural fiber to produce a comfortable base layer fabric that traps heat close to the skin'

Cool right?!

Color Crush: Oxblood

Hello hello,  can i just say... FALL is coming! What better way to start than looking at what colors we will be wearing for this season.  How about, Oxblood red?
This color...is to die for! First of all, i have always been a big fan of deep reds.
In addition, it seems to look great on any skin color/hair combination..so why not!

I have had my eyes on a particular item recently, Dr. Martens...  They are so bad ass...lets be honest.
Oxblood doesn't have to be a full outfit, in fact i've been noticing more feminine outfits paired with a deep OB lip or even some simple accessories.

These bad boys are still listed on Etsy, $76 from HellsBellsVintageUS

Lots of love,

Greta

Peruvian Glamour

Peru, a country to the West of South America.
I hope that someday i can visit this place, maybe by the end of next year if i'm lucky! As you can see, the colors and textiles are so beautiful, i chose to show this on a mood board i made. Peru-suasion is a trend inspired for Summer 2014.

This was a Topshop project we did in class. Each individual presented their boards for an inspiration or trend approach for 2014. South America has fun and loud colors that reflect what the country is all about; sun, beaches, music, tropical weather etc.

Peruvian Glamour
A photographer was an inspiration for my mood board,
Mario Testino:

Check out his photography here, it's so beautiful:

Innovative material news: Jade

After completing my two year AA major in Textile Design i felt like i had learnt a lot. My college always pushed us to be proactive with any of the conferences and visitors that would come to speak to us.
One of my most exciting memories, was the day where the Innovative Materials Conference came to speak to us about their  textile advances. I wanted to share this upcoming news with you guys :)

Jade

A Recent study shows Jade contains elements that helps balance the human body’s inner energy, such as zinc, magnesium, copper, selenium, chromium and cobalt. However, Jade is mainly known for its “cooling" characteristic. "

"The ultimate goal of the textile industry’s advancement is to serve humanity and improve the quality of life. With the out-cry of global warming, visionary entrepreneurs has already foreseen the opportunity of the cooling fiber, there has been a wide range of products in the market already such as dry-fit and coolmax. This is a trend, and it will also one of the best products in the future"

Can't wait guys, imagine how useful this will be during those hot summers!

Marbles for "The Marbled Effect"

Good day people! I am currently suppose to be doing work..however, I would much rather go through blogs and inspiring people. To start us off:

Amy Sia

If you haven't already, go and check out Amy Sia. Current and innovative, she has been a huge influence on my prints and designs. The colors she uses are so mesmerizing and fun, especially for Spring/Summer.

TREND report:

These are a more subdued than what we are seeing from Amy Sia,  it also has a soft feel which i can imagine would be suitable in both the Interior and Fashion market. Let me know what you guys think!
